We're just a family who had debt, worked like crazy to pay it off, and are now living in financial freedom.

Singing and talking
Ethan is convinced he can sing and talk. His talking is loud and screechy and when he sings he doesn't open his mouth it's almost like humming! Sometimes in the car when we are playng music we will hear him making these strange noises from his carseat! I think he's singing along with the radio!
Getting in the Christmas spirit
We are so excited to celebrate Christmas this year with Ethan. We put up the tree and decorations last weekend and he loved every bit of it! He was excited about the lights on the tree and was in such a happy baby mood. When he saw tinsel for the first time...it put him over the edge and he laughed for the first time!
We tricked out his bouncy seat!
Well...it's funny!

3 Months Old
Ethan just finished celebrating his first Thanksgiving. He had a great time going to Lebanon and seeing his Grandma and Grandpa, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He got to meet his Great Grandma Moots for the first time. He knew she was special because he gave her the biggest smile.

It's Gettin' Cold Outside
Ethan is now 10 weeks old. He's looking more and more like Daddy everyday! This week he has really started watching things and people. He has located his hands and likes to look at them. His fingernails have also located his face and he looks like he got caught in a cat fight! Now he wears socks on his hands to keep the money-maker safe! :) Sock puppet show anyone? We have smiling and bubble blowing down pat now...laughing should be next. I can't wait for that!! We love to laugh.
Now that the colder weather has started in Ethan has been trying to stay warm. Thanks to friends and family he has lots of cute fall/winter clothes.

2 Month Check up and Fun with a Burp Cloth
Ethan had his 2 month check up the other day. He has grown so much! He is now 12 lbs and 13 oz and 24 inches long. He is hitting all of his milestones and super healthy. The doctor was very impressed with how much Ethan was talking while he was there. He was great during his 3 shots. He cried when they were giving them to him, but was fine right after. He slept that whole evening and still slept all night too. What a great baby we have! We will go back again when he is 4 months old. I'm sure that it will be here before we know it. These first 2 months have flown by!!
New cool headband!
Ethan likes to grab his burp cloth and hold it close to his face. I thought we could have even more fun with it!!
Hey Ethan, wanna play a game??

First Halloween
Ethan had a busy Halloween. We went to show off our costume at Grandma and Grandpa Vangrootheest's house Saturday night. They loved his bear costume and took lots of cute pictures. After that we went to Grandma and Grandpa Brown's house. Cousin Tegan was there and she was dressed up like a ballerina.
Grrr!
On Sunday evening we participated in Trunk or Treat at our church. We decided to dress Ethan up as a Kan-Zou fan. Chris is a KU fan and I am a MU fan...so Ethan is a little bit of both! We made him a little onesie with "Kan-Zou" on the front and "02" on the back. He was exactly 2 months old on Halloween.

First Cold
This week Ethan had the sniffles for a couple of days. The poor little guy was all stuffed up. We put the humidifier in his room and let him sleep in his bouncy seat. He recovered quicker than I ever do when I have a cold.

I love this little puppy dog outfit. It reminds us of our Boxer friend, Champ!

6 Weeks Old
Ethan has been a busy little man the last couple of weeks. He had a great weekend with Grandma and Grandpa VanGrootheest and Great Grandma and Great Grandpa VanGrootheest the first weekend in October. He stayed all by himself with 4 grandparents for a few hours and was swimming in attention and love! When I went back to pick him up, all four of them were standing around the pack and play watching him sleep. So sweet!
This past weekend Grandma and Grandpa Moots came to town and got to spend some time with all 5 of their grandsons. Ethan went to his cousin's soccer game, an outdoor viewing of "Back to the Future", and church. He also did a great job for Grandma and Grandpa while Chris and I went to lunch together Sunday. It was nice to have some time together without any interuptions. Although, we did go to Target right after lunch to get a light-up toy for Ethan. We knew he would love it!
Ethan started sleeping longer stretches at night over the last couple of weeks. We were so excited when he slept for 6 hours, but now he is sleeping around 8 hours at a time! We can't believe it! We started a new bedtime routine that seems to help him sleep better at night. He gets a bath before bed each night. He loves being in the water. He kicks his legs and moves his arms like he is swimming. I think I am going to have to look into a Mommy and Me swim class soon!

Weight Lifting and the Color Yellow
Ethan has taken up weight lifting. He is working on his bulging biceps and tricep strength with the help of his trusty companion, Mr. Frog. We tried to tell him that he is just a baby, but it only made him more mad! Here is the proof...
He's also embarrassed to wear yellow. He is always looking around to see if anyone is laughing at him. We tell him yellow is a perfectly acceptable color, he doesn't agree.

3 Weeks Old
Ethan is now 3 weeks old and growing oh so fast! He is sleeping a little longer the last few days. He will usually sleep for 5 hours, eat, and then sleep another 4 hours. It's so great!! He is also trying to hold his head up. He is getting stronger each day.
He is getting so long now that he can't fit into his newborn sleepers anymore! It was pretty obvious when his legs were all scrunched up in those cute little jammies! I guess I could cut the feet off of the sleepers, but I decided to just let him graduate to 0-3 month sleepers!
We went to Fall Fun Fest in Blue Springs this past weekend. It is a tradition Chris and I started before we were even dating. We went with Ryland and Lauren Friday night and again Sunday afternoon with Jen and Clifton. Our number 1 attraction is the burger stand operated by Timothy Lutheran Church. It's one mean cheeseburger!
